Ear me, all of you, and understand. Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile.” We tend to look and focus outwardly with our eyes of perception. Each individual is ultimately responsible for himself. Do we take time to reflect on the things within that keep us from God? Do we keep ourselves in awareness? In order to do this, we must make a good habit of daily prayer and meditation. We must reflect on the thoughts that come through our mind, the words that come out of our mouth, and the actions that we do. In measure, are they matching up to the image of Christ? If we work on cleaning our inside, the outside will reflect this. It is not easy to follow a perfect example, but with Christ all things are possible. When we recognize our faults, Jesus is ready to lift us up again and make us clean, through the sacrament of Reconciliation. He sets the path that is perfect for us, dying to save us from the sin within.
