Today’s Gospel reminds us that it is important to be ready for the Second Coming of Christ, but it is also important to be prepared for his arrival into every moment of every day. He may come to us through a conversation, in the form of a beggar on the streets, through the words or actions of our children, or through the kindness of a stranger. Are our hearts open to receiving him? Advent affords us the opportunity to prepare our hearts and lives for Christ’s coming today, at Christmas, and at the end of all time. This Advent, open your eyes, your ears, and your heart to the coming of Christ in ordinary and extraordinary ways.
Adults: What am I doing to prepare for Christ’s coming, both at Christmas and at end times?
Children: How should I prepare for the birthday of Jesus?
