To sum up, Jesus is saying that, if we wish to be counted among the sheep, then we must be an actively loving person, irrespective of the response we get to our love. This is the way God loves us. It is not enough just to fulfill obligations, religious or otherwise, it won’t do to say, “I am a good enough Catholic”. We are expected to keep going out of our way and reach out in love especially to those in need – the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the poor and naked, the sick and those in prison. It does not matter how they got sick, why they are hungry, or why they are in prison. These people are especially to be loved because they are the most in need of having their lives turned around.
Adults: Who can you help turn their life around by loving and serving them?
Children: To which person did you especially try to show Jesus’ love and care this past week?
